Last week, I was just watching the Budget Session. Thought of jotting down the thoughts that were crossing my mind. Though I disqualify myself from passing any valuable judgement on the budgets, I do felt happy with the announcement of "Tax Slab - increase", as I am one of the beneficiaries of the new policy. But my thoughts are non-economical. It is about the professional conduct and respect for people as an Individual at first.
Those who might have watched the budget session must have sensed the same. Somebody is presenting a budget which is going to benefit/affect 100 crores of people. It is natural as a multicultural society there is always a difference of opinion on anything which is proposed for the public. I do agree with that. But the way we put forward or express our disagreement is definitely not in the spirit of the social benefit. See the way our own elected representatives presenting themselves in the house of Parliament. What is the need for shouting and walking out if you do not agree with someone’s view in the parliament that too when the whole Indian society is watching you on the TV? There is a clear difference between disagreement and non-cooperation. When are we going to understand it? When are we going to stop shouting? Ironically, we find shouting as one of the necessary skills for the political gains even in our daily mundane transactions.
Secondly, how does a speaker controls self and conducts the house in such a state of apathy? They should be really appreciated for their patience. How anybody can make a good decision with clear thought which is going to affect 100 crores of people with such a state of mind?
We need to improve a lot as a society and there are lot of problems to be faced to achieve what we have been denied during those colonial years. These things cannot be achieved by simple shouting especially at places where we need to make good and smart decisions. Hope the new generation politicians will understand this and will learn this good lesson from their seniors. Jai Ho!
Is this a possibility in Indian Parliament?
